BD FACSymphony S6 5L - Irchel 2

Sorter Specifications

5 lasers, 355 nm (UV), 405 nm (violet),  488nm (blue), 561 nm (yellow/green) and 633 nm (red) are spatially separated for excitation of up to 29 parameters as described in the optical configuration. Lasers can be tuned in their output power.

70 µm, 85 µm, 100 µm and 130 µm nozzles are available for cell sorting of material ranging from bacteria to fat cells or tubules.

The sorter is operated by independent power users, power user in training and via operator based sorts. Power users previously educated on the Aria sorters require an additional short introduction before they can use the S6.

Operator based sorts & training are available on request Mo - Fr from 09:00 - 17:00. Independet power user can use the sorter 24/7.

Please consult our guidelines for sample preparation if you are unclear about how to prepare your cells for sorting.

Sorted cells can be retrieved with one of the following collection holders

  • 4 x 5 ml tubes
  • 2 x 15 ml falcons
  • 4 x 1.5 ml eppis
  • 6 x 5m tubes, also fits 6 x 1.5 ml eppis
  • 2 x 15 ml and 2 x 5ml (5 ml also fits 2 x 1.5)
  • 4 x 15 ml
  • 1 x 50 and 3 x 5 ml (5 ml also fits 2 x 1.5)
  • 6 well, 24 well, 48 well, 96 well and 384 well plates
  • onto microscopic slides or custom made collection devices

Samples as well as collected cells can be kept at temperatures ranging from 4° - 42°C.

An aerosol management system allows cell sorting up to biosafety level 2.
